Abstract | "Grand Challenges" are fundamental scientific or technological problems whose solutions require significant increases in our current levels of scientific knowledge and/or technical capabilities... Development of a list of grand challenges facing medical informatics could serve several purposes: attracting funding, drawing young people into the field by highlighting key intellectual or technological challenges, and providing an alternative definition of the field. The author proposes a list of grand challenges for medical informatics based on discussion on various listservers. |
