Abstract | This article describes the strategy, planning, development and initial evaluation of a telehealth system for the State of Pernambuco, in Northeast Brazil. This system was designed to face several problems on the delivery of healthcare to people living in remote and/or poor areas. Different technologies approaches were used to develop a telehealth system for the public health system. Pediatric and fetal cardiology was the chosen area for the pilot project. A system prototype was implemented and used to validate the transmission of patient information. Based on these prototype the HealthNet web system was conceived for the telediagnosis, second medical opinion and educational management, and to be part of an Integrated Health Service Network. |
