The Division of Neonatology and The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School are seeking a full-time Board-Certified Neonatologist to join our team of physicians at Dell Children’s Medical Center, Ascension Seton Medical Center, and satellite locations in Austin. Given the extraordinary growth of our clinical and academic program we believe this opening is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced, ambitious neonatologist. Our program of clinical care has expanded rapidly with the development of the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease (TCPCHD) at Dell Children’s Medical Center, the only pediatric program in Central Texas offering comprehensive heart care for newborns, infants, children, and adolescents. The program is supported by a group of world class surgeons and cardiac intensivists providing care in a dedicated 24 bed cardiac critical care unit. The Division of Neonatology works closely with the TCPCHD, coordinating patient care to ensure patients receive the highest level of specialized care.

We are specifically seeking candidates with skills and experience in neonatal cardiac critical care. Ideal candidates will be board-certified in both Pediatric Cardiology and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, or have at least five years’ clinical experience in neonatology at an established cardiac center or as an ECMO director. Candidates must have a Doctorate of Medicine or Osteopathy, and must have, or be eligible for, a full Texas medical license. The Division of Neonatology, part of the Mednax group includes 18 faculty members and >30 NNPs providing clinical care at seven sites for over 10,000 deliveries annually. Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin (ASMCA) is home to a 44-bed, Level III neonatal intensive care unit providing HFOV, nitric oxide and total body cooling. Dell Children’s Medical Center (DCMC) is a full-service specialty care pediatric hospital with 32 level 4 NICU beds, with expansion under way to 56 beds by 2023. DCMC is also the site of the Comprehensive Feta! l Care Center and a new purpose built Special Delivery Unit (SDU) which allows babies with antenatally diagnosed conditions to be delivered in the same hospital where they will receive ongoing cardiac, surgical or other subspecialty care.

All faculty members have regular appointments with the Department of Pediatrics at UT Austin, and access to the research resources of the Dell Pediatric Research Institute. An ACGME accredited neonatal-perinatal fellowship program is recruiting its first applicants to begin training in July 2022, and will grow to include 9 fellows.

Austin is consistently ranked in the top three cities for quality of life in the USA, with a wide range of housing options, excellent schools, and big-city amenities near wide open spaces. With a thriving economy and no state income tax, Austin offers an unmatched quality of life for everyone.
