The Division of Neonatal Medicine and the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, are seeking a full-time neonatologist to join our growing academic practice. We oversee the care of critically ill newborns, including those with highly complex medical and surgical conditions, and provide specialty consultative care to pregnant persons. We partner with world-class medical and surgical subspecialists in the fields of fetal intervention, pediatric surgery, cardiology, cardiac surgery, otorhinolaryngology, and neurosurgery.

Currently we are group of 9 neonatologists who cover a 35-bed level IV NICU and a 24-bed level III NICU at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN. We collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including neonatal medicine fellows, resident physicians, and neonatal nurse practitioners, to provide care for over 800 admissions/year. We have a teleneonatology program integrated into our clinical practice to provide remote resuscitation and consultation services to hospitals in the surrounding two state region.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will be clinical service in the neonatal intensive care units, the neonatal resuscitation room, and teleneonatology coverage. The candidate should have excellent clinical and teaching skills, with proficiency in leading a multidisciplinary team. There will be an expectation of academic productivity and promotion.

Preference will be given to candidates with any of the following:

The experience and expertise to implement emerging bedside diagnostics or therapeutics, such as point-of-care ultrasound

A defined academic trajectory with a developing or established research track record

The initial position will be 1.0 FTE with protected time for academic endeavors for up to 3 years. After that time, any reduction in clinical responsibilities will be dependent on intra- or extramural funding for academic and administrative responsibilities.
