NORTON CHILDREN’S NEONATOLOGY, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, and a part of Norton Children’s Medical Group, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible and fellowship-trained neonatologist. The practice is one of the largest neonatology groups in the country, with more than 30 neonatologists, as well as neonatal nurse practitioners, family nurse practitioners, pediatric hospitalists and other providers skilled at caring for newborns and babies with special conditions. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to pursue a career path in clinical and academic medicine. The neonatology program receives referrals from throughout Kentucky and Indiana at two neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), including one of the nation’s largest Level IV NICUs at Norton Children’s Hospital in downtown Louisville. Both NICUs combine elements of private practice with an academic model to foster collaborative relationships among neonatologists, providers, fellows, residents and trainees. Through various partnerships, outreach services also are provided at several Level II and Level III NICUs throughout the region.

About the Position

* The physician will have an opportunity to choose a clinical path, academic path or both. The academic path may include research opportunities funded by the National Institutes of Health in areas such as substance exposure, nutrition and health services; educational leadership opportunities for students, residents and fellows; involvement with clinical trials conducted by the University of Louisville School of Medicine; and more.

* The physician will have access to a network of providers and hospitals that offer all pediatric subspecialties and advanced technical capabilities, including pediatric surgery, cardiovascular surgery, high-frequency ventilation, noninvasive ventilation, neurally assisted ventilation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

* Several multidisciplinary clinics are in development in the areas of bronchopulmonary dysplasia, extremely low birth weight, congenital diaphragmatic hernia and more.

* The team values work/life balance and recruiting to meet the needs of the community, providers and staff.

* Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

* The preferred candidate will have completed an accredited perinatal-neonatal fellowship.
