Candidates must hold an MD, DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, Board Certification in Pediatrics and/or candidate’s pediatric subspecialty area of practice, and be eligible for permanent, unrestricted licensure in the state of New York. Candidates should possess academic leadership experience and accomplishment that would qualify them for JSMBS faculty appointment at the level of Professor.

UB Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences was founded in 1846. It is the oldest school in the University, with some of the most innovative approaches to graduate and professional education. Research is fundamental to the mission of UB’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

A 628,000-square foot medical school building spanning eight floors opened in 2017, following a relocation downtown to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. This new building in the heart of Buffalo allows the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences to create state-of-the-art learning and research facilities, attract and retain world-class faculty, improve inpatient care in the region, increase the school’s enrollment, and grow the university’s presence in downtown Buffalo.

Oishei Children’s Hospital

In November 2017, Kaleida Health officially opened its $270 million John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital. Oishei Children’s Hospital is the regional center for comprehensive and state-of-the-art pediatric trauma, surgical and medical care, including neonatal, perinatal, and obstetrical services. As one of only 43 freestanding children's hospitals in the nation – and the only freestanding children’s acute care hospital in New York State – the entire facility was built with children and families in mind. The 12-floor 185- bed modern facility is an integral part of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, linking to Buffalo General Medical Center, Gates Vascular Institute, the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and more. Oishei serves as the only access point for pediatric critical care, Level IV neonatal intensive care, and pediatric trauma care in and for Western New York.

As a world-renowned research university, UB plays a vital role in Buffalo’s resurgence as a thriving city that is a magnet for talented professionals, artists, entrepreneurs, and innovators who recognize the tremendous energy and momentum gathering here. While this region is large enough to offer plenty to a diverse population of 1 million residents, it brims over with small-town warmth and friendliness. At every turn, Buffalo lives up to its billing as “The City of Good Neighbors.” Buffalo’s own strong sense of community, easy lifestyle and affordability regularly place it in top 10 lists from a variety of national publications for its overall quality of life.
