Clinical Activities Across the Neonatology - Outreach:
Neonatologists provide clinical services at one or more of the Outreach Partner Hospitals including Northwestern Medicine locations at Central DuPage, Delnor, Lake Forest, Huntley and Palos Hospitals in the western, north and southwest suburbs, as well as Silver Cross in New Lenox and Franciscan Health in Crown Point Indiana. Outreach neonatologists are supported by an extensive network of Lurie Children’s pediatric subspecialists via onsite and telemedicine consultations. Outreach neonatologists have opportunities to be involved in quality improvement work locally and with Illinois Perinatal Quality Council (ILPQC) and Vermont Oxford Network.
At Lurie Children’s Outreach Partner Hospitals in the greater Chicago area, Neonatologist responsibilities may vary by site and can include coverage of Level II, II-E SCN, and Level III NICUs, consultation services, and attendance at deliveries. Note, clinical capabilities vary by site but may include:
Mechanical Ventilation: Conventional, High Frequency Oscillator, High Frequency Jet
Bubble CPAP and high flow nasal cannula
Inhaled Nitric Oxide
Therapeutic Hypothermia
Continuous Video EEG
Pediatric general and specialty surgical services
Positions Available:
Full-time and part-time neonatologist positions are available at Lurie Children’s Hospital’s Partner Outreach Hospitals
Position Details:
Full-time faculty in the Division of Neonatology - Outreach provide clinical service based on a 24/7 in house or out of hospital model depending on the location.
Clinical schedules are published in several month increments and there are frequent shift trades within the group to ensure faculty can adjust their clinical schedules when needed.
Lurie Children’s partner hospitals use Epic and Cerner electronic health systems depending on the location.

Lurie Children’s Hospital’s main campus is across the street from the Museum of Contemporary Art and just steps away from the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue. There are outstanding museums, theaters, concerts, zoos and major league sports teams and a thriving restaurant scene. Lake Michigan and the cityside beaches are serene in the winter and vibrant in the summer with outdoor recreation activities. Outreach partner hospitals are primarily located in the surrounding suburbs which are home to wonderful family friendly activities and excellent school systems just a short drive from downtown Chicago.
