The Division of Neonatology at Connecticut Children’s is looking for a full-time, clinical neonatologist to provide service in our New York sites at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Northern Dutchess Hospital, and Putnam Hospital in the Hudson Valley area. Vassar Brothers, located in Poughkeepsie, houses a 23-bed Level III NICU covering a delivery service of 2500. The NICU is supported virtually by subspecialists with 24/7 access to echocardiography, EGG, and MIR interpretation. The unit also provides the only neonatal transport service in the mid-Hudson Valley region. Neonatologists are teamed with neonatal physician assistants and nurse practitioners to provide coverage of the NICU following an in-house coverage model. Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, and Putnam Hospital in Putnam, are Level I nurseries with 24/7 staffing by advanced practitioners and an out-of-house coverage model for physicians.

SUMMARY
The Neonatologist will provide a high level of clinical excellence through providing safe, prompt, competent, collaborative, and evidence-based medical care to patients. The Neonatologist will be responsible to follow care guidelines and treatment protocols for infants with a variety of neonatal illnesses and conditions covering a broad spectrum of health issues. The Neonatologist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including attending, advanced practitioner staff, nursing and subspecialists to provide this care. Additionally, the Neonatologist will be responsible to teach to a variety of learners which may include medical students and residents.
Responsibilities for Internal Candidates
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide assessment of patients by obtaining a comprehensive history.
- Examines patients to obtain objective physical data and supporting information through laboratory and imaging modalities. - Formulate a differential diagnosis and develops a reasonable treatment plan to include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and making appropriate referrals as indicated.
- Maintain ongoing documentation of patient interventions within the timeframe established by policy, to include documentation of initial assessment, treatment plans, progress notes and any other patient interactions, to include telephone calls.
- Collaborate with nursing, support personnel and administration in matters affecting patient care.
- Ensure the protection of patient rights and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Ensures appropriate handoff communications are accomplished.
- Responsible for teaching medical students and pediatric residents.
Qualifications for Internal Candidates
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education Required: M.D., or D.O. degree required
Active Scholarly Program with publication history is desirable but not required
Successful completion of residency and fellowship program as applicable
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
Active CT Physician license
Active DEA
Board eligible or certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine as appropriate.
