The Division of Neonatology at Atrium Health Levine Children’s is growing! We are seeking a Neonatal APP to join our team of 75+ Neonatologists and Neonatal APP providers, working at one or more of our Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the greater Charlotte, North Carolina area. We are experiencing significant growth in our Neonatal team with the recent approval of the following positions:
Positions Available in the following settings:
Traditional Inpatient Neonatal APP within Levine Children’s Hospital Level IV NICU with many various shift options
Full and Part Time
Day Shift Only
Nocturnist
Day/Night Rotating Shifts
Opportunities to rotate through outlying Level III and Level IV NICU’s to add variability to the role as well as flexibility with different shift lengths
Qualification requirements:
Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works.
Nurse Practitioner – Master’s degree required or doctorate in nursing practice. NNP or AC-PNP Certification Required. New graduates eligible.
Physician Assistant – Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Master’s Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred. Must have post graduate fellowship in Neonatology or > 1 years Neonatal experience in a NICU.

Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH) in beautiful Charlotte, NC, committed to being the region’s leading provider of pediatric health care services, has 11 floors and 234 inpatient beds. Our Level IV neonatal unit is comprised of a 32-bed neonatal progressive (convalescent) care nursery (NPCN) and a 53-bed neonatal intensive care nursery (NICU). Our neonatal unit is a regional referral center offering Total Body Cooling, ECMO, CT Surgery Services and all Subspecialty Services. Our offsite community NICU’s consist of a 20 bed Level IV NICU and two Level III NICU’s that are staffed by Neonatal APP’s. Our current team of 50+ Neonatal APPs are specifically trained and proficient in the provision of neonatal care under the direct supervision of Neonatologists working for Levine Children’s Neonatology Service Line. The Neonatology APP is responsible for evaluating, stabilizing, and treating patients with both acute and chronic illness. This includes but is not limited to the care of patients requiring ventilatory management, pre and post-operative patients, infants with severe and or complex congenital anomalies and life-threatening illness. In addition, this includes evaluation, stabilization, and initiating cardiopulmonary resuscitation in our labor and delivery unit and in the emergency room.
Levine Children’s Hospital is the clinical training site for the CMC Pediatric Residency Program and medical students from the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Opportunities for faculty appointments and advancement are available through the Wake Forest School of Medicine commensurate with experience. Support for clinical research and quality improvement is available to interested candidates. The highly anticipated opening of the Wake Forest School of Medicine – Charlotte Campus in 2025 will provide additional opportunities for education, quality improvement and clinical research.
