Position Overview
The hired physician will primarily provide neonatal care at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, New York, a 10-bed Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit serving Orange County and the surrounding region. In addition, the physician will participate in 1-2 clinical rotations annually at the Level IV Regional Perinatal Center at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, one of the region's premier tertiary and quaternary referral centers.
Clinical Responsibilities
Garnet Health Medical Center – Level II NICU
• Provide comprehensive neonatal care in a 10-bed Level II NICU (including 30 weeks preterm and above, nasal CPAP/IMV, and short-term mechanical ventilation)
• Attend high-risk deliveries, including cesarean sections.
• Evaluate and manage newborns requiring intensive or intermediate neonatal care.
• Provide targeted neonatal consultations for infants in the well-baby nursery.
• Collaborate closely with obstetric, pediatric, nursing, and ancillary care teams.
• Candidates are encouraged to participate in Quality Improvement initiatives applicable to level II neonatal care
. • Routine care of healthy newborns is provided by a dedicated Pediatric Hospitalist service
• Schedule: approximately two 24-hour shifts per week; on call from home is an option within 20 minutes of the hospital
Westchester Medical Center – Level IV Regional Perinatal Center
• Participate in 1-2 clinical rotations per year at the Level IV NICU (3-4 weeks each).
• Work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team caring for complex neonatal and surgical patients.
• Maintain exposure to advanced neonatal therapies and academic-level clinical practice.
• Candidates are encouraged to have their own focused area of investigation or to participate in one of our ongoing research programs.
Qualifications
• MD or DO degree.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
• Medical licensure in New York State.
• Excellent clinical, communication, and collaborative skills.
